KMS (Contract Building Services) Ltd consolidates 10 years of success with a move to larger premises and a major contract award.
At a time when many construction companies are feeling the effects of the economic downturn, KMS Contract Building Services Ltd are celebrating their recent move to brand new, larger premises on the Newnham Industrial Estate at Plympton. Continued growth has facilitated this exciting move, such growth has been built on creating a defined niche in the marketplace as specialists for working in controlled environments and competitive tendering.
With 30 years experience in the building industry Kevin Smith founded KMS 10 years ago to undertake building and refurbishment projects throughout Devon & Cornwall. KMS currently employ 25 staff directly and sub-contract many more locally based, skilled workers. Steady development of the company’s reputation and successful completion of a competitive tender process has lead KMS to winning the contract to refurbish the A&E department at Derriford Hospital. The 17 week contract will require around 8 staff on site at any one time.
The new contract award shows the Trust's faith in KMS' proven ability to undertake work in the region’s busiest A&E department whilst balancing infection control issues and minimising disruption. This latest contract award follows others from the Trust including refurbishment of the Medical Photography and Dermatology Departments. Other clients in the sector include the Nuffield Hospitals and Ramsay Healthcare and several GP surgeries, as well as restaurants, schools and SWRDA.
